It is vitally important to maintain the second hand value of Ocean Rowing Boats. As the sport grows in the future - it should be a credible calculation that your boat has a value once the race or expedition has been completed. Woodvale Challenge maintain the "race classes" to accommodate a re-sale value to all classes of rowing boats.

Finished 4th in 2007 race in a time of 55 days and finished in 77 days in 2009 race. Unlike many other boats she didn't suffer any problems, electrical or otherwise during either race. With the exception of a life raft (which we hired), food, gas and a small portion of the first aid kit that was used, she is being sold with all mandatory kit form the AORR 2009 rules and regulations including a new in 2009 Iridium 9555 satellite phone.

Heritage Explorer
Type : Woodvale Pairs Class Built: 2007 Crossings: Indian Ocean ’09 (11 days at sea), Atlantic Ocean ’10 (80 days at sea) Price: £26,000 During her scrutineering for the Atlantic race she was deemed one of the best prepared boats to enter a Woodvale race and remains in the same condition, with the same equipment as when she began the race. An extremely smart and well-cared for boat. Fully equipped to the 2009 Woodvale specification.
Heritage Explorer (formerly ‘Doing Time’) was built and fully fitted out at a cost of over £45,000 for the Indian Ocean Rowing Race 2009. She only completed 11 days at sea before pulling out of the race due to lost and broken equipment. She was then bought in July 2009 for the Atlantic Ocean Rowing Race 2009/2010. Before entering the race she had; a full re-spray (£4,500), new batteries, extra solar panels added (a total of 185w), an additional 9ft para anchor added to go with the 12ft, a spare watermaker (35e) added to go with the Katadyn 40e and survival watermakers. In short, she was prepared to deal with any scenario and to ensure that the crossing was completed. Masses of spares of everything and masses of advice. Open to viewing and currently based in Badminton, near Bristol on a decent trailer which is included in the price.

Atlantic Jack - REDUCED
Type of Boat: Woodvale Challenge Pairs Class
Year of Manufacture: 2007
Crossings: Atlantic Rowing Race 2007 * Price: £15,000 *
Built in 2007,Jack was the fastest womens' pairs boat across the Atlantic in 07/08. The hull is re-inforced with epoxy glassing giving 100% hull integrity..no leaks ! Exceptional electrics system, our batteries never dipped below 50% charge, even in 10days with no sun. At no time did we ever feel unsafe with "Jack". We had a safety rail installed above the gunwhale & found it utterly invaluable especially in rough weather, it saves you crawling along the deck on your hands & knees. However, it can also be removed if not required. The orange paintwork may not be your favourite colour, but it's VERY visible on the water, life rafts are orange for a good reason.
Sale includes: brand new DeGraaf trailer, only used 3 times. 5 x Xcell oars with rowing shaft ( more durable than thinner sculling shafts ) . 1 x 12ft & 1 x 9ft para-anchors, 2 x drogues, 1 x 50m line & other assorted ropes. Solas B liferaft in valise ( new in 2007 ) Grab bag & all contents to Solas B standard, including Katadyn 06 Survivor. All mandatory electrical equipment: Sea-Me, AIS receiver, fixed & handheld GPS ( Garmin ), fixed & waterproof handheld VHF. Waterproof Electrics system designed & fitted by Mark Humphries of Kilworth Marine Services: battery monitor/regulator & instrument panel can be totally submerged and will still work. Powered by 6 x Barden solar panels giving 162 peak Watts, to 2 x 80amp Sonnenschein batteries ( OK'd by Woodvale even though not 85amp ) Iridium sat phone, data kit & computer cables, charger is integral to internal electrics. External cabin mounted ariel gives perfect reception even when inside with cabin door shut. Other bits & pieces eg, several aquapacs, dry bags, anchor & chain/line, luxury quick drying mattresses, Force 10 stove & endless advice if required !
Will need new rudder & transom brackets/attachments. Footplate steering currently in stern position. Can also be hand steered with rope from either position. Our Katadyn 40E watermaker was faulty, we are currently in negotiation with Katadyn for a replacement, so you may get a brand new watermaker thrown in.

American Fire
American FireDesign: Woodvale Pairs Class BoatPrice: $15,000 Rental/ $30,000 Sale, or best offerAmerican Fire was built in 2001 by Tom Mailhot and John Zeigler and rowed across in 58 days in the WEARR '01. The boat was then rowed by Sarah Kessans and Emily Kohl in the WEARR '05. Although the electrical system will need to be replaced and the boat comes with minimal equipment, owners are willing to aid in refitting the boat, offering service, advice, and many key sponsorship contacts.Boat is currently in Arizona, USA. I had also 3 flexible solar pannels but they are out of work. 3 batteries to be checked. It comes with AIS (automatic identification System- anticollision system. the best system I ever tried!) like new, VHF radio, purple finder (tracking system) and navigation lights. The boat is currently stored in Italy. My request is £ 23.000 negotiable.
