Team Name: SoloRower Team Website: www.solorower.comI’m doing the race because it is a huge challenge which will push me to my mental and physical limits
We are both in our mid twenties and don't want to regret not doing something amazing in our lives. We are both adventurous, up for a challenge and keen competitive Cornish Pilot Gig rowers, hence a rowing challenge. Madie is rowing for Cancer Research in memory of her mother who died of Skin Cancer in 2002. Chrissie is rowing for the Shark Trust, a plymouth based charity in which she strongly believes in and wants to raise money and awareness for.

Taking part in the Woodvale Indian Ocean Rowing Challenge is the brain-child of Matt and having decided he was up for the challenge, began by selecting the crew early in 2009. Another Sport Science graduate and keen sportsman, Matt has always relished a challenge and his running the London Marathon, numerous half-marathons and his qualifying as an International Ski Instructor in 2002 prove this. Matt has been largely employed in Sports Events since University and has worked with Childrens Cancer Charity CLIC Sargent. In his spare time, Matt loves to relax by playing Golf and topping up his tan.Dom was born and grew up in Bath but didn’t meet the other crew members until he was studying Exercise and Sport Science at Exeter University. Dom is a keen all-round sportsman and has played cricket to a high representative level. As a qualified diver and kayaking instructor, Dom is no stranger to the sea and is spending time on the ocean. He is currently employed promoting health and fitness for the Ministry of Defence and has spent recent years working as a fitness instructor for the Army.Dom is married to Alice and enjoys films, good food and spending time outdoors. With degrees in both Sport Science and Physiotherapy, John is the Team Physio. Having grown up in West Sussex, John is another very capable athlete. He has played Welsh Universities Hockey, has a single figure Golf Handicap, played county cricket at junior level and has twice run the London Marathon, with a best time of 3hr 26mins. John is a huge fan of good food and will often slave for hours to create the perfect dish. John has always had an eye for adventure and has travelled extensively in search of it. His physio skills, high level of fitness and his thirst for international challenges make John such an ideal crew member.
