1996/97
Took part in the BT Global Challenge as crew on board 'Save the Children' - taking on the infamous Cape Horn
1997
Took part in the inaugural Port St Charles - Barbados Atlantic Rowing Race 1997 with rowing partner George Rock. Their boat was called Cellnet Atlantic Challenger and they finished the race in 13th place with a crossing time of 64 days, 5 hours and 11 minutes
2000
Founded Woodvale Events Ltd to organise future ocean rowing adventures
2002
Together with rowing partner Bill Greaves, Simon made his first attempt to row the Indian Ocean. However, only a few days out from their start location, in Western Australia, they capsized after hitting something large submerged in the water and had to be rescued
2003
As a solo project, Simon made a second attempt at rowing the Indian Ocean in his boat True Spirit, this time he was successful. After 107 days at sea he became the first British Adventurer and yongest person ever to row the Indian Ocean
2004
Simon purchased the Atlantic Rowing Race and Ocean Fours Rowing Race from Sir Chay Blyths' Challenge Business in order to give people the same amazing opportunities he'd had
2005
Successfully organised the Atlantic Rowing Race 2005

Successfully organised the Shepherd Ocean Fours Rowing Race 2006
