Female Crew Members Needed!
Wanted!.....Female crew urgently needed to join two members of Upper Thames Rowing Club in a World Record attempt to break the existing all female fours Atlantic crossing time as part of the Atlantic Rowing Race 2007.
The once in a lifetime opportunity is for two crew to join Sarah Duff (24) and Clair Desborough (32), both from Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on their quest to conquer the World Record, which begins on 2nd December 2007 - setting off from La Gomera, Canary Islands and finishing 2,500 nautical miles later in Antigua, Caribbean.
The challenge will hopefully see the crew break the record crossing time for an all female fours team of 67 days, 7 hours and 20 minutes, which was set during the Atlantic Rowing Race 2005 by the team 'Mission Atlantic'.
The successful applicants joining Sarah and Clair will complete an extremely motivated, confident and fun-loving team - and will need to be able to help raise the required funds towards the project.
Sarah commented;
'we'd urge women with a thirst for adventure, and breaking World Records, to consider joining us. There is no doubt that the attempt will push each crew member mentally and physically to the edge of endurance, but those challenges are to be relished as a team. This really is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed.'
The women's four will work closely alongside Woodvale's double ocean rower, Simon Chalk, and his six-man crew, as they prepare to break the overall speed record across the same route of 35 days, 8 hours and 30 minutes set in 1992 by the French team La Mondiale.
